Fall in Minnesota

Fall in Minnesota can be a short season so it's important to enjoy every moment. I did just that on Saturday by visiting the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and spending the morning walking about the beautiful gardens and trails with my Aunt. It was a perfect day - cool when we met at 10 a.m. but warming up nicely by the time we were done. We followed up with lunch (of course!) at a bar & grill with an outside patio; it was a great way to spend the day. Here are a couple of photos taken at the Arboretum.

On the way home (about an hour drive) I stopped by the little barn pictured above to buy some pumpkins. What a cute place! There were pumpkins, gourds, and indian corn everywhere you looked. There were even chickens wandering around! Here are a few more photos.

I told you there were chickens! Inside the barn was a little store selling fresh vegetables, home made jam and salsa, even fresh cookies! I had a great time and bought a few pumpkins and gourds to decorate our front steps.

By this morning it was cool and rainy, so I'm glad that I took time to enjoy the outdoors yesterday. The leaves are falling, crops are being harvested, and before long it will be winter. Yes, fall is a short season, but it's great while it lasts.

Sounds like you and your aunt had a wonderful day!! That little barn store looks wonderful. I feel a road trip coming on.

Another MN fan of the fall weather.

Gorgeous landscape and lovely photos. I love the fall! We don't get the colors here in California that you do out there (except on all the vineyards), but it's still a beautiful time of the year...
