Favorite Things

Andes mints. Mmmm. They are definitely one of my favorite things! There's a bit of a story behind these mints, wanna hear it? Ok, if you insist. I was 8 years old when my little brother was born. My older brother (9) and I were at home while my mom was in the hospital for a week - can you imagine that staying for a week used to be the norm? Anyway, we went to visit her in the hospital but found out that we were not allowed past the waiting room on the first floor - and she was on the 3rd or 4th floor! So we sat in the waiting room while my dad went up to visit. We were very sad because we really wanted to see her. When dad was done visiting he told us that we were going outside and mom was going to wave at us from her window. So there the three of us stood, in the hospital parking lot, waving at my mom WAY UP THERE. It was one of the saddest days of my life and I'm still mad about it all these years later!! Anyway, one of the gifts that my mom had received was a box of Andes mints and she sent them with my dad for my brother and me. They became one of my favorite things that day. You know how you can remember events when you hear certain songs or smell certain smells? When I see Andes mints I remember the day that I had to wave at my mom from the hospital parking lot. It's funny that I like them at all.

There are a few things on my crafting table that are favorites - bits of inspiration if you will. I'll share a few of them here:

This is an inspirational ribbon jar that was given to me by my friend, Jody. She made this jar for me using pieces of YELLOW ribbon because YELLOW is my very favorite color!

This adorable set of note pads and a pen were given to me by my friend, Cheryl. I know, you're supposed to actually use them, but that would mean untying the beautiful bow and breaking up the set, and although I've had this for about a year I just can't bring myself to do anything to upset its adorableness. Is that a word??

Oh, I love these stacking tins! My mom gave these to me for Christmas a few years ago, and not only are they cute they are super functional as well! I have my adhesive supply in the blue tin; my collection of chipboard in the red tin; and wire in the yellow tin. I love looking at them, and they really brighten up my space!

The last thing I'll share is this cute ribbon that I recently purchased. I have no idea what I'll use it for, but when I saw it I just had to have it. It's cute, green and stretchy. Fun!

I would love to have photographed all of these things on my work station where they typically sit, but to be honest it's a mess right now! I need to set aside some time to straighten things up, but I'd rather make something instead! Maybe my next post will be a picture of my neat and tidy work space . . .

You should see my work space, I'm currently Taking up Space at my mother's place, after being a nomad in a van and a bus for 12 years. I
'd dearly love a 'space' of my own soon< Lucky she doesn;t mind the colourful clutter, and it is a beautiful space with large windows, so even when you're inside, you feel like you're out! Megg
