Post Office rant

Happy Saturday morning.  I have a busy day ahead of me making another batch of Valentine Mini Album kits (they sold out quickly!), making another The Office Mini Album kit (also sold out) and . . . well let's be honest, that's more than I can get done in a day!  But there's still more to do.

Before I get to work I need to do a little thing called the Post Office rant.  Maybe I'll turn in into a rap some day, but for now it's just a conversation.

I live in a small town, just 1,200 people, so I'm sure things are different at big city PO's.  My issue with our PO is the hours, or lack of them.  Most people work 8-5, right?  Our PO opens at 8, so if you need to be at work at 8 you can't stop on your way to work.  Our PO closes at 4:30, so stopping after work isn't an option either.  No problem, right?  Go over your lunch break!  Well, our PO closed from 11:30 to 12:30.  Yea, closes.  Over lunch.

Now this problem is exasperated by the fact that we're in MN.  In the winter months it's cold out, and the idea of having to get bundled up and leaving the office isn't thrilling - it's nice to run your errands when you are already out.  But, because of our PO hours that's what you need to do.  Leave work during the work day and run up town.

Some Etsy shops only ship on certain days, so you might be thinking that I should just save up my orders and go to the PO on Saturday.  Well, that is an option, but on Saturday the PO is only open from 8:30 to 9:30.  That's one hour, and it's an early hour for a gal like me!!

Don't get me wrong - the staff at our PO are really, really nice.  I like them a lot; they are very helpful and when I do go there I'm always impressed with how good they are at their jobs.  It's the hours that have me ranting this Saturday morning.

Whew, that feels better!  By the way, I did write a rap once called "we like big hair" and maybe I'll share that here some day.  Now, off to work!
